Teaching of religion classes in schools by students is a widespread practice throughout Germany, mainly due to the well-known shortage of school teachers. Most of these students are not supervised professionally. The present paper outlines the current state of knowledge in this regard and discusses the associated problems from the point of view of systematic theology. It outlines the professional ideal of „theological positionality”, develops it as a concept of „oneʼs own theology” and then asks, which possibilities for accompanying studentsʼ school teaching in religion could be helpful in order to promote the development of „oneʼs own theology”.
